Thanks to Stephen Girsh for sending over the names of this year’s recipients of the Abbott Methodist Church Scholarships.  The Church’s scholarship program was started in 2007, to assist local high school students with their post-high school education.    All students are eligible for the scholarship, not just kids with the best grades, or only those involved in sports or other activities, etc.  The Church wanted every student to have a chance to receive a scholarship.

After the Willie and Susie Nelson gospel hour aired on Willie’s Roadhouse, someone, an anonymous donor, sent in $5,000.00. They used to sell silver coins, but those are gone now. Otherwise, the donations are just individual gifts from people. That’s a lot of money; good for them.
