If you’ve been to a Willie Nelson & Family show (and if you haven’t go as soon as you can; it will change your life), you are familiar with the giant Texas flag that unfurls behind the band.  There was no flag at the Red Rocks show last Sunday, and fans familiar with the flag wondered why.

No, it’s not out of deference to the great state of Colorado and our flag.    Budrock “the Illuminator” Prewitt, Lighting Director for Willie Nelson and Family answered the question:

“Due to wind gusts up there, most times we fight it.  Last time we even had to take it down during the show.  It was a big distraction so I just decided to light the rocks with some random color.  Did not even hang it.  I liked the look.

 

It’s not very hard for anyone to tell where the pictures from Sunday were shot.”

Willie Nelson and family played a secret show at annual summer party held at the New Hampshire home of Bob Bahre, former owner of New Hampshire Motor Speedway earlier this month.  The home is reported to have 29,000 feet of living space, with a 16-car attached garage — lots of room for a party.

No one knew who the guest was until a screen was lowered and the lucky few hundred guests in in the audience went wild when they saw it was Willie Nelson and Family.

Heroes Night Out (HNO) provides an opportunity for soldiers who were saved on the battlefield but too severely injured to return to active duty to get a break and get the much needed family time with an Appreciation Wallet. Each wallet contains six (6) $50 gift cards for a ‘Night Out’ with their families, friends, and/or caregivers—a much needed stress reliever to heal their hearts.

Heroes Night Out (HNO) supports wounded soldiers in WTU’s or Wounded Transitional Units. These soldiers are saved on the battlefield but too severely injured to return to active duty. We’re losing them to crime, divorce, and suicide, each at historic record levels. These soldiers are being ‘transitioned’ to another job or, more commonly, ‘med-ed out’ of service. The severity of their injuries decides their fate. The transition period is riddled with surgeries, evaluations, and uncertainty.

The Backyard at Bee Cave hosts a day-long benefit event and concert benefitting Heroes Night Out. The day kicks off with a ‘Heroes Night Out’ Honor Ride of at least 2500 motorcycle and classic car enthusiasts from all over Texas joining forces from 30 smaller organized rides.

Thanks to Dee, from Virginia, for sharing pictures she took last night at the Willie Nelson & Family show in  Charlottesville, Virginia.  The show helped raise funds for Patch Adams Gesundheit! Institute – a home-based free hospital.  Dr. Adams, who says he wants to put the “care” in healthcare,  was on hand and enjoying the show.
