Micah Nelson and Reflectacles will help celebrate @ CD Release party for Lukas Nelson and Promise of the Real, Redway, CA (3/22/2011)Friday, March 11th, 2011
On Tuesday, March 22, the Mateel Community Center in Redway presents a record release party with Lukas Nelson & Promise Of The Real. Already a local favorite and fast becoming an international star, Lukas Nelson is currently touring in support of his new album, Promise Of The Real, and is gearing up for a big summer tour as part of Willie Nelson’s Country Throwdown.
Opening the show, The Reflectacles is a six-piece group of young lads on a crusade to return smarts and sophistication to mainstream music. They describe their sound as a sonic love child conceived during a musical orgy involving The Band, Tom Waits, Wilco, The Kinks, and Bob Dylan, and they put on a highly original and entertaining live show.
Doors open at 7 p.m. with The Reflectacles at 8 p.m. Admission is at the door only and is priced at $18 for MCC members and $20 general. Beer and wine will be available and the kitchen for this event will benefit Kiwanis Of The Redwoods.
For more information, call the Mateel at 923-3368 or visit www.mateel.org.

Micah Nelson and the Reflectacles performed at the Saxon Pub on July 3, 2010, and it was such a great show! The music was wonderful.
If you’ve seen they’re show, you’re familiar with the 3-D glasses the band hands out. Equally as enjoyable as wearing the ray-bending glasses, is watching your friends wearing the glasses.
The band has pictures of some famous reflectacles posted at their site; you’ll recognize some of them. Here’s a few at the Saxon Pub on July 3, 2010. A wild and crazy bunch of music lovers!
Doesn’t this look like a fun group? They were enjoying their reflectacles.
Here’s Christopher Durst reflectacating.
Janis got reflectacated that night, too.
Visit the band’s great website for info on getting their album, and to find out when you can see them in concert. It’s really a fun website, too. http://www.thereflectacles.com
Here’s the band, after their GREAT show.

I was one of those privileged to attend the Folk Uke, Reflectacles, Willie concert in Maui last weekend.
Sure, we noticed his lovely locks were shorn, but most of us were too busy revelling in the incredible company of the man, and his talented offspring’s music.
I suppose quite a few of the folks at the concert were actually spell-bound. I certainly was after I spotted Kris Kristofferson in the control booth drinking a beer and laughing with Willie, just like they did in the Highwaymen days.
Kris seemed to particularly enjoy Cathy Guthrie and Amy Nelson’s witty Folk Uke performance, despite their insistence on pointing out how often they “mess up”. Eventually the crowd looked forward to these instances and broke out into a cheer for the gals when they had one of these brief but charming interruptions.
The reflectacles blew the spectacles off the crowd with their original music and engaging performance, so when Willie showed up with a new hairdo, it was not the highlight of the evening.
Thanks, Shelly, for the stories and the pictures.

“The Reflectacles are my new favorite band. I was so impressed with their talent, energy, songs, and lack of ego. Their album will be out in a few days.
Also they will be performing at the 4th of July Picnic this year, at The Backyard in Austin. So will we, and Paula too, and Dad and so on. : )”
