AUSTIN. Associated Press is reporting that the Bexar County Texas District Court has issued an order prohibitting Willie Nelson from playing ‘Whiskey River’ at his concerts. The song, written by Nelson’s long-time friend Johnny Bush, was made famous by Willie Nelson, who opens his show with the song, and sometimes plays it several times during a show.
There has been no official press release and all court fililngs have been ordered Sealed, however a leaked document showed that John Bush Shinn III (Johnny Bush), has filed a Cease and Desist complaint against his friend and former bandmate. According to people close to Willie Nelson’s family, who ask not to be identified, the decades long friendship between Willie Nelson and Johnny Bush is temporarily on hiatus. Details about what caused the riff are beginning to leak out, with rumors circulating that it involved a missunderstanding surrounding a game of dominos.
