Up for auction is an example of Mercedes Benz’s 70′s Flagship, the 6.9 sedan. This particular car was bought new by Willie Nelson Continental Cars in Austin, Texas. Considering the model was nearly $40,000 in 1977, ownership was a very exclusive club.  For information unique to this model, here is a great site dedicated to these cars: http://www.m-100.cc/6point9/index.html.
From the maintenance book, it looked like Mr. Nelson owned the car until 1984 with about 80,000 miles on the odometer.  There were a few servcies done in Colorado and Florida, but it always returned to the selling dealer in Austin.  Sometime in the late eighties the car changed hands and migrated to Portland.  Like most old luxury cars, time, the elements, and the inevitable succession of of less financially capable owners take there toll. This one is no exception. Â
