Hi Linda,The Liberty Hill poster looks cool up there . That day several of us Dripping Springs veterans, one of which had a ranch few miles from the picnic sight, bar-b-qued there watching the road that lead to the back gate, All day the local ranchers hauled picnickers in cattle trailers from highway 183 where they were parking to the picnic. Fare for this shoulder to shoulder ride was three bucks. They could have driven there themselves and we know those trailers weren’t there when it was over .
Our party got in two trucks and drove ten minutes to the back gate, with no traffic other than a trailer of sunburnt people. We left around midnight I was in the back of the pick-up looking back at the scene ,we were about a mile away there was a half dome of light over the stage and you could hear Kris and Rita very clearly coming across the Texas night….ahh like Hondo Crouch part owner and first mayor of Luckenbach says…” Memories – You Can’t Forget Them”..The picture from Ian Hall is so pure.. mil gracias..to both of ya’ll for putting it front of me here in my home. It is wonderful. What a great ambassador Willie Nelson is for us. He is able to show the world some of the soul of America .Linda, I know you are coming to the ”PICNIC” ….remember it gets hot here ……light clothing, long sleeves, hat, water before you’re thirsty and go slow like an armadillo and you can go all day all night. Thanks for The Memories,
Ron & Betsy
Thank you, Ron!
