Shirley Collie passed away this morning.
Shirley Collie (born Shirley Caddell, March 16, 1931 in Chillicothe, Missouri) is an American country music artist. She charted three singles on the Billboard country charts. In order of release, these were “Dime a Dozen” at #25, “Why Baby Why” at #23 (a duet with Warren Smith), and “Willingly” at #10 (a duet with then-husband Willie Nelson).[1] The Nelson duet was also his first chart single.

I feel really sad about this … but this is life … Rest in Peace, dear Shirley …
so very sad…. she will be missed greatly, RIP Shirley
So sad, I read her book and she had such an interesting and unassuming life.
What a great gal. One of a kind! She will be missed…
Very sad. Rest in Peace Shirley, you were so loved
Rest in Peace Shirley!
Rest in Peace Shirley. Loving thoughts to Willie, and all her family.
Sad news…Rest in Peace, dear Shirley.
Very sad news.
I’m thinking Shirley will be remembered with much love and with many happy memories of those who loved her!
Shirley fought the good fight and now stands in the glory of God Almighty. May her family find comfort in the Lord as they grieve.
Ok, this is weird. Her facebook page mentions NOHTING about her passing and is still receiving posts as if she were alive. Creepy.
Yes, I noticed that, too. Maybe her family wanted to keep in touch with her friends and fans; I don’t know, Tom. Same with her safebook acct.
I noticed that too and have been thinking it might be better to make it a fan page, like many artist have. But of course it’s up to her family.
That’s true on her official website also. No mention of her passing.
Anyone know if she wrote or co-wrote any top twenty hits besides “Willingly?”
I don’t know Bruce. Good question.
