Hudspeth County Judge Becky Dean-Waller has ruled in the Willie Nelson case. Final Orders entered today set forth that Willie Nelson will not be required to pay a fine for his recent marijuana possession charges, however, he is ordered to six-months’ house arrest on his bus, the Honeysuckle Rose. Nelson will be permitted to leave the bus for work, including concerts, recording sessions, promotional purposes, and fundraisers.
Rumors have been circulating since Nelson’s marijuana charges in Texas last fall as to whether the country music star would receive jail time, or be required to pay a fine. Most recently, Judge Deen-Waller had reportedly said Nelson could not plead by mail, that she “wanted to meet Willie Nelson” and that he would be required to sing, “Blue Eyes Crying the Rain” in her courtroom. Fans, who were already making plans to attend Nelson’s sentencing hearing, were disappointed when she later said it was a joke.
Nelson’s sentence was ordered effective immediately, and he will receive time-served for time spent on his bus since November 2010, thereby completing his sentence.

I just love you Linda and your sense of humor!! : )
This is a perfect example of how much state and federal governments waste tax dollars marijuana prohibition .
So in the fact of the matter is that this court was a waste of tax payers money…. when will the world realize that marijuana is not the devil……..like honestly becaus some one smokes a joint does that really make them a criminal? like WTF AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!! some one who i respect as a Canadian activist wrote this letter…..
Dear Friend,
It is a fact that, until 1937, Cannabis was legal world-wide and highly regarded for the plant’s multitude of uses as medicine, pain-relief, paper, rope and cloth (IE; the word ‘canvas’ come from cannabis) . Cannabis Sativa can be ingested or smoked, but hemp rope/paper, as has been know for millennium, cannot be used to get high.. Like potatoes, corn, rye, hops, barley, Rice, apples, pears, grapes, etc. it can be made into beer, wine or something edible.
The Constitution of the United States of America is written on hemp paper, as are all of America’s most important historical documents.
Literally, the history of America is written on Hemp.
So, how did this beneficial, versatile and patriotic plant end up being public enemy number one?! In a word; PAPER!
Before the American Civil War Hemp paper was the norm and the Wood Pulp Paper Process (WPPP) was deemed so environmentally damaging that it was in danger of being banned. The only thing which could have saved the obnoxious WPPP was if it were the only type of paper. Period.
It was the owner of the patents to a WPPP, American Paper Tycoon, William Randolf Hurst (the real life citizen Kane), who uncritically became concerned with the moral plight of America and declared in his chain of National Enquirer style newspapers that there were newly discovered dangers associated with Cannabis!
Citizen Hurst found allies in his crusade; the owners of other WPPP patents – The Dupont family cooperation and their WPPP financier, Andrew Melon.
The Melon Bank (owned by Andrew Melon) financed Dupont’s WPPP and it would not have looked good for the Secretary Treasurer of the USA to have backed a loser!
As Sec Treas of the USA, Melon APPOINTED his nephew-in-law, Harry Anslinger, to head the newly created Federal Bureau of Narcotics.
Harry’s interpretation of his job was to read the ludicrous Hurst paper articles out loud as a report to Congress…then, Hurst repeated it yet again in his new papers.
Thus, Hurst’s lies became Congressional Record, but, he could then honestly say he was (now) simply reporting what is Congressional Record..
While the American public were well aware of Hurst & Dupont’s conflict of interest, the connection to Mellon and Anslinger was, until the freedom of information act, not known and sealed. Thus preventing the now obvious conflict of interest that made Harry Anslinger (see the documentary “GRASS”) unsuitable for his position becoming known… until now. In the meanwhile, RKO/Hurst movies like “Marijuana” and “Reefer Madness” were proven to be pure fiction, at best.
However, Hurst, Dupont & Melon were now in positon for the coupe; a simple restriction on ALL cannabis cultivation without government permission.
Over the next 80 years no permission was ever given for any reason and the obnoxious, air polluting, acid rain causing, forest/river’streem and lake destroying WPPP had it’s monopoly. The “previously unknown dangers associated with cannabis” have repeatedly been shown to exist only to the WPPP.
And, we ask; IF THIS IS NOT TRUE THEN WHY WAS CANNABIS HEMP ALSO MADE ILLEGAL WHEN NO ONE CAN GET ‘HIGH’ OFF OF IT?
The Legacy of Hurst’s War Against Cannabis (WAC) is as follows;
– Wood Pulp Paper has a monopoly worth Billions of dollars.
– The WAC supports WPPP and maintains it’s monopoly
– WPPP does not pay the costs of WAC, the public pays all the cost.
– Cost of basic WAC now estimated at 50 Billion dollars annually.
– Cost of legal prosecution of victims of WAC (separate)… several Billion dollars annually.
– Cost of incarcerating victims of WAC (separate)…Several Billion dollars annually.
Additionally…the so-called Cannabis Culture Community spends several Billion dollars on Cannabis and Cannabis products annually…untaxed.
Criminal gangs capitalize on the enormous demand and reap Billions of dollars annually…to the public distress. Additionally, the cannabis civil war has created an enormous criminal-record community that simply cannot trust their government, legal system or society because of Hurst’s War Against Cannabis.
And, because so many hundreds of Billions (check the stats!) are spent annually to fight Cannabis there is little money left for education of our nation’s young, for schools to be built and maintained, hospitals are being closed, etc. All this could change, literally overnight, if this war ends.
Know that hundreds of thousands of Judges (on all levels), prosecutors and police officers have formed and joined organizations such as Law Enforcement Against Prohibition (LEAP) to legally change things and STOP this self destructive war against all of us and our environment because they are aware of what you just read!
You will be heartened to be reminded that the Tobacco industry was once deemed too big to confront, too powerful to change and that the big Tobacco companies denied the truth about the dangers their products inherently cause…yet now have been made accountable!!! The same can be done to WPPP!
Please, you can help end this nightmare by forwarding this letter to all of your family, friends and political representatives on all levels!
Prohibitions do not work. The WAC has done the exact opposite of what it was created to do, having all the effect on drug use as a jet of water on a gasoline fire.
End the WAC now.

I would suggest that you email Judge Becky Dean-Walker, via the address above, and commend her on the fine ruling. Show her the overwhelming number of people that approve of her actions and that she handled it the way it should be handled.
What gives her the right to demean and make a professional music artist sing to get out of jail time she should be out of a job this is ridiculous.
A Judge as wise as King Solomon, my hats off to you your honor.
“WILLIE FOR PREZ”

Dude, it was a joke. Didn’t you read the article? All it is showing by her making a joke like that is she is a fan. Nothing more.
Too many people took me seriously, though.
Weren’t we all waiting on an April’s Fool Day “Headline” from Willie? It’s one of the many many reasons I love him
Yes, Jules. Thank you.
Some interesting comments. Marijuana, particularly for medical purposes, should be decrimalized in the remaing 50 states.
Yes, it should legal for everyone, everywhere!!! It’s almost like criminalizing catnip from cats! LOL! I have plenty of that here in IN!
~Marvell sold millions of records in the 60s with the Warner Brother’s hit group Mercy. He and another Mercy member saw the dangers of drugs in Rock and Roll and carried the group’s clean-cut image into country in hopes to reach the youth of that early 70s era. Willie Nelson achnowledged this anti-drug duo by placing their history in his museums. Grand Ole Opry Stars called them The First Country Outlaws ( see link http://jamesmarvell.com/endorsements.html )
