Thank you, Choteau, Montana!

I have to thank all the folks I met at Choteau, Montana, and all the ones I didn’t who made us Willie Nelson fans from out of town so welcome.  I was only there a day, and I met some really nice folks.  Here’s some pictures I took in Choteau…

Carl Richards, manager of Big Sky Motel (406-466-5318) treated me like royalty. He was a wealth of information about the town, and found me a room for the night after the show, in a town where there were no rooms.  And thanks to Drena Lindgren, of the Gunther Motel (406-466-5444) who called me with the kind offer of a place to stay.  I had no cell phone service, and didn’t get the message until I had driven back to Great Falls.

I bought some popcorn here, but didn’t see a movie.  Nicely done, though.

This Log Cabin Cafe catered for the band/crew, and this was what was reported about the food they served:

Gabrielle Rasmussen and her family, which runs the Log Cabin Café, are stocking up on extra everything. In addition to feeding the hungry hoards of Nelson fans and rodeo buffs, the café is cook-ing for the band and crew.

That means baking three dozen pies Monday, in addition to a carrot cake, triple-chocolate cake, cheesecakes and other goodies. The southerners wanted home-cooked food, requesting burgers, hotdogs and salads for lunch and the business specialty for dinner.

Rasmussen said that means slow-cooked pot roast, mashed potatoes and gravy, collared greens and lots of homemade pies.

I had a delicious sandwich at John Henry’s Restaurant and Casino.  Good fresh food, friendly and fast service.  Sorry, no picture.
