The Outlaw is on the road again.

Yes, Willie Nelson returns Oct. 16-17 to Horseshoe Riverdome.

Nelson’s offbeat phrasing, distinctive nasal tones and leathery bewhiskered hippie-style looks are synonym for “outlaw” country music.

And, fans absolutely love him.

And, he them. At the end of one Riverdome concert, Nelson didn’t leave the stage until he shook every outstretched hand held up to him along the stage apron.

Nelson is best known for classic ballads, “Always on My Mind,” autobiographical road songs, “On the Road Again,” and catchy rhythms, “Mammas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys.”

His career took off in the early 1970s when he started performing and recording his own songs instead of selling them to others.

His “Red-Headed Stranger” album propelled him into the country music stratosphere.
