Willie Nelson and Bill Mack sing, ‘Drinking Champagne”

Thanks to Cherie for this picture of Willie Nelson and Bill Mack at Willie’s Place, Carl’s Corner, Texas (12/16/09)

Bill Mack served as MC at the Willie Nelson and Family Holiday Show last Wednesday.   Several months ago, Willie recorded the song, ‘Drinking Champagne’, written by Bill Mack and made famous by George Strait, who had a hit record with his recording.

Since Willie recorded the song, when he calls in to talk with Bill on Willie Wednesday’s, on Willie’s Place on Sirius/XM radio, he’s been teasing Bill Mack about some of the lyrics to the song:  ”I never loved you much when you were mine.”

On Wednesday, Willie invited Bill Mack out on stage to sing the song with him, and then he invited the audience to sing along when it got to the words, “I never loved you much, when you were mine.”  It was a fun sing-a-long and I think Bill got a kick out of it, too.

No date of when the recording with the album will be released, but probably next year some time.
