[I wonder how many Superbowls Willie has played at, or at a party nearby? And does he go to the games? I wonder... - LL]
Willie Nelson is rolling into Glendale for an appearance linked to Super Bowl XLII, but you’ll have to be a VIP or know one to see his concert.
The Texas-based country superstar and his band will perform at the Super Bowl Tailgate Party, which runs adjacent to University of Phoenix Stadium before the Feb. 3 game. The game is scheduled to kick off at 4:18 p.m.
The tailgate party is limited to 10,000 attendees known as “NFL associates” – mainly sponsors of the Super Bowl and purveyors of products sold at the game. Some tickets are being sold at marked-up prices on online sites, but those are resales by ticket brokers and not authorized by the NFL.
Nelson is up for a Grammy Award a week after the Super Bowl game. He and singer Ray Price are nominated for their collaboration on Lost Highway, from the Last of the Breed album.Â
