Two of the best-known entertainers in music are coming to Tahoe. Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson will perform Aug. 16 at the Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena at Harveys.
“Singers, songwriters, legends, American musical icons — any superlative would probably fall short trying to describe their contributions to music,” said John Packer, Harveys and Harrah’s director of entertainment.
Both previously have performed at Stateline, but this is the first time Dylan and Nelson have been on the same bill. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. June 1 online at www.ticketmaster.com
and www.apeconcerts.com . Cost: from $59.50 to $125. The concert begins at 7 p.m.
Dylan performed here in 2003, the first year of the contemporary Harveys Outdoor Concert Series. He also played two 2002 shows inside the South Shore room at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe.
Nelson played the South Shore Room several times since the late 1970s, Packer said.
There will be an opening band Aug. 16 to be announced at a later date. Dylan and Nelson will each perform with their own bands. It is unknown who will go on last.
“Our summer concert series is still booking some acts,” Packer said. “It’s been difficult this year because of the economy. This is a real coup for us to get this show.”

i’D LOVE TO GO WITH A FRIEND OR ANOTHER COUPLE (2 OR 4 TICKETS) BUT WOULD GRACIOUSLY TAKE WHATEVER OFFERED. WE LIVE IN PLACERVILLE AND WOULD LOVE THIS MORE THAN ANYTHING FOR MY BIRTHDAY AUGUST 19TH. THANKS!!!!!
I was at the concert and thought Willie put on a great show for his age. He seemed to be having a good time on stage. His voice is still there after all these years.
Dylan and his band need to give it up! The sound was horrible, People were leaving and looking for the exit during his first song. Pretty sad to hear the “NOISE” he decided to put out. His sound board techs should be fired and never return to music….. Bob sounded like Bob! but it was a sad show to see. I am glad to have seen him in the past when the band sounded like a band!
GIVE IT UP BOB
I loved LOVED seeing Bob live for the first time. I loved what he did with Ballad of a Thin Man, everyone around us was dancing and having a good time, and no we didn’t have the massively drunk people around us. When he brought out the guitar, I was surprised and really honored since I’ve heard he usually doesn’t do that.
Overall, I was very happy with the concert. Especially that Bob sounded like Bob, not like some studio-edited voice.
Woww.. to Bills comment above.. just wow…
There is a spiritual tune in this melody of life, and your either feel it , or you dont.
It cant be taught…
It cant be bought..
It cant be copied, and have us believe its the same..
Bob DYlan has it, and thats his strum , hum, smile, and his all..
He feels, he writes.
He feels, he sings..
He feels and feels, and to ever say a remark as Mr Bill in the comment gallery has said..
Shouldnt be at a show like that..
Shouldn’t buy his tracks..
And shouldn’t put such a fowl comment in regard to a show that YOU bought tickets to attend to.
Fowl may be a harsh word you may think, in my use of an adjective to describe your way in your words.. but it is the first word that feels accurate to how it hit me when i read it.
You don’t understand music to write that…. Considering that was the most beautiful and soulful show of bobs, in a LONG time.. and I said that one second from leaving..and so did the thousands I was around as I left… SO what show were you at… ?
I saw Bob this summer on the 4th of July, in South Bend, IN. He was on that ballpark tour with Willie Nelson and John Mellencamp.
