Whiskey River Casino?

Rush and Molly, of the New York Daily News, reported today:

A gambling joint is in Willie’s future

If you’ve got the money, honey, Willie Nelson has the time – and, now, a place to gamble it away.

Reps for the music legend confirm that he’s developing what could be a chain of country-flavored casinos with one of Donald Trump‘s least-favorite people, New York racetrack entrepreneur Richard Fields.

Fields will spearhead the first Willie Casino, Nelson’s manager, Mark Rothbaum, tells us. “It’s just one to start, but who knows where it’s going to go.”

Fields teamed with Trump in 1999, aiming to do a casino deal with the Seminole Indians of Florida – only to ditch Trump for another developer. “[Fields] said it was impossible, then he did it for himself,” said Trump, who sued Fields in 2004. Fields insists that his actions were perfectly legal.

Last year, a Pataki administration panel chose Fields’ Excelsior Racing Associates to run the state’s race tracks. Fields is due to testify about that up-to-20-year deal in Albany this week. Lawmakers are likely to bring up the $200,000 that Fields funneled into Gov. Spitzer ‘s campaign last year through different entities, and the Irish vacation they took together.

Willie, who has had his problems with the IRS, appears unconcerned.

“Richard’s a great guy,” Rothbaum says. “Am I to feel sorry for Mr. Trump?”
