Willie Nelson Crew Member shoots his Age

Henderson, NV.

While enjoying a day off Sunday before Willie Nelson’s upcoming performance in Henderson, Nevada, some of Willie’s Road Crew hit the links at the Westin Resort and Spa where Nelson was appearing. Windy conditions greeted the musical fivesome, but amazingly, just two days after his 64th birthday, crew member, Buddy “Budrock” Prewitt had the best round of his life. Despite the 30 to 40 mph winds that blew the crew all day, it helped Mr. Prewitt card not only his personal best, but miraculously one shot off the course record (63) held by Jesper Parnevick.

His amazing 8 under par (64) matches his age. Round highlights include only 3 missed fairways, 1 shot played from the sand, he required 21 putts for the round including 14 one putt holes. He even had two bogeys, but offset them nicely with eight birdies and an amazing eagle on the signature 547 yard, 13th hole, where his second shot ricocheted off the Drink cart, rolling to within 8 inches of the hole.

It was his first ever sub par round. He has been playing golf 52 years. The 15 handicapper had a previous low round of 79 in 1986.

Prewitt, dressed in a red Callaway hat, a blue and white Callaway Shirt, credited Callaway Golf for the clubs, hats, shirts, and balls, thanked his playing partners, and said that during the round that he had the Beatles song “When I’m Sixty Four” playing over and over in his head. He also said he felt like he was in heaven all day and then added he dreamed something similar not too long ago.

Nelson played to a sold out audience Monday Night at the Westin Resort and Spa kicking off their 2014 Spring Music Series.

It was a whole lot easier to get older than it was to get wise
