WILLIE AT WEAVER:

In town to play tonight’s show at Summer Camp, Willie Nelson and his entourage teed it up at WeaverRidge on Saturday. With his tour bus parked in the Weaver lot all afternoon, the living legend and his crew enjoyed an off-day after Friday’s gig in Effingham.

Monte Brannan, a big Willie fan who lives off the fifth fairway, has two Golden Retrievers — “Poncho” and “Lefty” — so named for a record Nelson recorded with Merle Haggard.

Brannan had the dogs in his car at the clubhouse when Nelson finished his round, and also had a copy of the album.

“Would you like me to sign that?” the 76-year-old Nelson asked Brannan.

“Yes, and I’d also like you to meet your namesakes.” Brannan said of his dogs.

Willie signed the record while the dogs licked his bearded face.

“He was very gracious,” Brannan said of the Redheaded Stranger.

“And he said he played some fairly good golf.”
