Willie Nelson inducted into Texas Musicians Museum Hall of Fame (4/5/08)

Hall Of Fame Inductees Recognized

The Texas Musicians Museum, located at 212 North Waco Street in Hillsboro, inducted its first class of Hall of Fame honorees at a Saturday night, April 5, gala.  The event was held at the Bosque Conservatory Tin Building Theatre in Clifton.

The inaugural inductees included Abbott native Willie Nelson, Steve Fromholz, Hank Thompson, Smokey Montgomery of the Light Crust Doughboys, Janis Joplin and Buddy Holly.

Museum Executive Director Thomas Kreason welcomed those in attendance, and Fromholz and George Gimarc served as celebrity emcees.

Montgomery’s widow, Barbara, was on hand to accept the award for her husband, who passed away in 2001.

Ann Thompson was also in attendance. Her husband, Hank, was aware of his impending induction into the Hall of Fame when he passed away last fall.

The evening was capped off with a performance by The Brazos Valley Boys of Texas, Thompson’s band members who had been with the Waco singer for up to 18 years.

Entertaining during the social hour was Tucker Peterson.
