Willie Nelson Song on CD to Help USO Show Support for Service Members and Families


ARLINGTON, Va., May 3 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — This month, the USO is proud to honor the service and sacrifice of active duty and retired members of the armed forces in celebration of National Military Appreciation Month.

“Our troops sacrifice so much for this country, and it is more important than ever that we remember and support them, particularly throughout National Military Appreciation Month,” said USO president and CEO Edward A. Powell.

All month long, the USO is offering the American public ways to show their support for service members and their families worldwide.

— 7-Eleven, Inc. is announcing the sale of YMC Record’s Support Our Troops: Support Their Sacrifice custom music CD featuring Willie Nelson, Larry Gatlin, Hank Williams, Jr., The Oak Ridge Boys, Lee Greenwood, All-4-One and more. The CD will be available in participating 7-Eleven stores beginning May 18. YMC Records will donate $1.00 from the sale of each CD to the USO.

— Petro Stopping Centers’ Iron Skillet Restaurants will make a $1.00 donation to the USO for every Chicken Fried Steak ordered. Additionally, Petro Truck Stops will sell USO window clings, with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting the USO.

— The American Heroes campaign, sponsored by Speedway Motorsports, Inc., honors military personnel with a series of events surrounding the Coca- Cola 600 NASCAR race on Memorial Day weekend. Proceeds will benefit USO programs and services worldwide.

— The Chrysler Group is launching its “Our Troops Are Calling On You” sweepstakes benefiting USO Operation Phone Home(R). For every entry received, the USO will receive a $1.00 donation, up to $50,000. Sweepstakes winners will receive one of five brand new Chrysler, Jeep or Dodge vehicles.

— Waddell & Reed Financial, Inc., its employees and customers continue to sponsor Operation USO Care Packages during the financial management firm’s 70-city tour in a specially equipped, 18-wheel truck.

— The Walt Disney Company is sponsoring Military Family Appreciation Events at 32 USO centers around the world through its “Minnie Grants” program.

— The USO is launching the Tell Us Your USO Story program, encouraging the public to send in their USO stories, photos and videos to be posted on the USO Web site.

— Finally, on Sunday, May 28, Memorial day,the Fox Movie Channel will air a full day of war movies and information about the USO.
