Willie Nelson called in to the Bill Mack Country xm Radio Show today, and made it officially Willie Wednesday. Bill is always so happy to hear from Willie, and Willie sald he was glad to be back. Willie has been at home in Hawaii for the past month, and he told Bill and Cindy that the time difference in Hawaii made it difficult to coordinate calls in to the show. He said he’s back, and he’ll be calling in whenever he can. The phones were busy, as always, as truckers and other fans called in to talk with Willie.

Breaking News! Willie announced on the radio today that the 2008 Fourth of July Picnic would be in San Antonio this year. And he said then they were doing a show the next day in Houston. Now that’s just good news!

Miss Tex, from Texas, got through and talked with Willie about the ‘Grave Digger’ music video, and how much she enjoyed it.Â
Willie told her about how the black and white video was made. He said they stayed in NYC after Farm Aid last September, and after the show at the Hard Rock Cafe, on 9/11. He said they drove to the cemetary at night, and spent the night there. Then, at 6:00 a.m. the next morning, they started filming the video.  It was raining all day, which really contributes to the mood. Willie said when he sings the line, “..so I can feel the rain” it really started raining. For the coffin scene, Willie said they asked him to take his boots off, “And do you know what I told them?” The video was made by the same crew who produced that great video of Wilile and Toots Hibbert, filmed in Jamaica, singing ‘Worried Man,” the Johnny Cash tune.

Wasn’t it fun hearing Willie tell about the making of the video? I always enjoy getting to chat with him for a minute and was thrilled I got through today. I really do like the GRAVE DIGGER video!! And Willie’s version is excellent.

I think so many people were glad that you asked about it! It is such an interesting video, a mini movie, really. You sounded so good, clear, and your comments were so good. I could tell Willie was enjoying talking about it with you. I loved when you said you were seeing him in March, and he asked you where you would be seeing him, and that he was looking forward to it. Isn’t that sweet?
When Willie asked me where I would be seeing him, I didn’t know if he was really curious on where I would be OR where HE would be in March. haha

Hey Bill-
Tell Willie that recovery from Rotator Cuff surgery is a longer process. I had that surgery on Dec 19, 2009. I just last Fri. got released from theropy. This starts a few days after surgery. Total recovery time is at least 6 months! At this time I can only lift 6# with that arm!!
