A&E Entertainment kindly sent a copy of Willie Nelson/Wynton Marsalis dvd to share with fans. Thanks, Ann from A & E for sending, and thanks for getting it autographed by Wynton Marsalis.
Wynton Marsalis plays with his quintet at the concert, and Willie has brought along Mickey Raphael from his family band for the show.
When I heard about the dvd, I thought, great, but please release the cd, too; don’t make us wait for it. And I still don’t think I’ve heard for sure when the cd will be released, but after watching the dvd, I am so glad I watched it first, before I get to listen to the cd. It’s like when you go to a concert, and later you’re listening to the cd and you hear Willie on a solo, you can remember seeing him perform it live. And Mickey Raphael fans will freak out, because Mickey has some long, beautiful solos in this concert. Really, though, these are artists are so talented, and they respect Ray Charles and his music they are playing. This was a joy to watch.

You’ll thank me later. I don’t usually like concert dvds, I think because my tv is so tiny and old, very unplasmatic and un-HD, very low def, I guess you’d call it. But this is really a good concert to get to watch, for all of us who couldn’t be in NYC to see it live. And those that were there, will absolutely love getting to see it again.
