Willie Nelson helped close the original BackYard last October 26, 2008, with a final concert to celebrate the past 16 years of live music.  I hope they have him play at the opening of the New Back Yard, which is reported to be built in Bee Cave next spring.

The Backyard received approval today from the City of Bee Cave for it’s necessary zoning change for the land they wanted to use to open their concert amphiteater.  James T. O’Connor, President of Direct Events and John Paul DeJoria received approval at the City Council meeting, where there were reportedly 200 people in attendance.  The Council got a standing ovation from the 200 people in the audience and the Direct Events Staff.

The new location will be off of Highway 71, west of the 620 intersection, consisting of just over 35 acres. The frontage entrance will be located on the proposed Bee Cave Parkway extension and will be adjacent to the 50 acre Bee Cave City Park.
