Farm Aid, the music

In September 1985, in Champaign, Illinois, Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp rallied artists to a concert event that turned into a powerful social force supporting America’s family farmers. The event was named Farm Aid.

In 2001, Dave Matthews joined the Farm Aid board.

The excitement continues each year with a live, televised concert. Hundreds of artists performing all styles of music have played at the event. Farm Aid always features the best that music has to offer, while remaining true to it’s ultimate mission — supporting America’s family farmers.

Thanks to the generosity of hundreds of artists, the music continues to inspire thousands of donors to join the cause offering hope to struggling family farmers.
