StageCoach, “California’s Country Music Festival”, with Willie Nelson, EmmyLou Harris, Garrison Keiller, Lucinda Williams, and oh so many more

Yep, the week after the world famous Indio Coachella Festival, the country cousin Stagecoach festival will be held  on May 5 and 6th, on the Empire Polo Field.

The 2007 Stagecoach lineup has officially been announced www.stagecoachfestival.com.   Artists will perform in four distinct performance areas including the main stage, an alt-country stage, a bluegrass stage and a storytelling area.

Beyond the music, there will be a wide variety of art including country music memorabilia, antique cowboy gear, rawhide sculptures, western heritage installations and Americana folk arts, saddle making, blacksmiths, rodeo gear, lasso and trail boss seminars, among others.

Willie is invited to Coachella and Stagecoach.

I thought HelloCaitlin’s comment (City Girl, Country Girl) was good:

Well, I won’t be getting to see Willie this time. Isn’t it interesting how Willie has become “cool” enough or “indie” enough to be invited to concerts such as these, while other country artists are not? I’m glad he’s included at events with a different audiences — hopefully it will awaken ears to how good country can be!
