Star Trek Auction Bids Out of this World

In an auction that surely set Trekkies’ hearts beating at warp speed, Christie’s boldly auctioned more than 1,000 “Star Trek” memorabilia pieces that no man has auctioned before.Whether they came for the pointy Vulcan ears or the phaser weapons, buyers shelled out about $7.1 million for “40 Years of Star Trek: The Collection,” auctioned from October 5 to 7. Christie’s estimated the auction would bring in about $3 million, but the auction house apparently underestimated the Star Trek faithful.
