This Day in Willie Nelson History


On January 13, 1981, Willie Nelson was nominated for two grammy’s:  On the Road Again, for Best Country Song, and for Best Country Vocal Performance Male, for On the Road Again.

On February 25, 1981, Willie was presented with a grammy for On the Road Again, at the 23rd Annual Grammy Awards for On the Road Again.  Other songs nominated that year:  Drivin’ My Life Away, (Eddie Rabbitt, Evan Stevens & David Malloy); He Stopped Loving Her Today, (Bobby Braddock & Curly Putman); I Believe in You (Roger Cook & Sam Hogin); Lookin’ for Love (Bob Morrison, Wanda Mallette & Patti Ryan).

George Jones won the grammy  that year for his performance of “He Stopped Lovin’ Her Today“.
