“Kokua for Japan”, the Hawaiian fundraiser last April, for the victims of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami, has been nominated for the “Do Something Award’, in the concert categories.  The internationally broadcast concert raised more than $1.6 million dollars, and featured artists Willie Nelson, Jack Johnson, Patrick Simmons, Michael McDonald, Mick Fleetwood, Hutch Hutchinson, Henry Kopono, Mailani, Amy Hanaialii, and many others.  For info on the concert, visit Kokua for Japan.

DoSomething.org and VH1 have once again partnered to present The Do Something Awards to honor young people’s commitment to social change. The Do Something Awards will be taped at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles and premiere Thursday, August 18th, 2011 at 9/8c on VH1. Emmy and Golden Globe winner Jane Lynch will return to host the star-studded Do Something Awards telecast for a second year.

Other nominees in the concert category include ‘CMT Present’s, Jimmy Buffett & Friends – Live from the Gulf Coast’;  Taylor Swift’s, ‘Speak Now Tour’ to benefit tornado victims; ‘Oklahoma Tornado Relief Concert’; ‘Music Build’s: CMT’s Disaster Relief Concert’.
