Willie Nelson and Family in Marksville, LA (3/21/09) SOLD OUT

MARKSVILLE – Country music legend, Wilson Nelson, returns to Paragon Casino Resort’s Mari Showroom for a sold out concert on Saturday, March 21, at 9 p.m., according to a news release.

Known as a singer-songwriter, Nelson also achieved fame as an activist, producer, guitarist, author, poet and actor. He reached his greatest media exposure during the outlaw country movement of the 1970’s, but remains iconic, especially with American country music fans as he continues to perform.

A native of Abbot, Texas, Nelson’s grandparents gave him mail-order music lessons starting at age six. He wrote his first song when he was seven and was playing in a local band at age nine. Nelson has been an active musician since 1956. In 1960, a song he sold for $50 called “Family Bible” became a hit and is often considered a gospel music classic.

Willie’s musical partners include Waylon Jennings, The Highwaymen, Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson, Ray Price, Merle Haggard, and Sheryl Crow.
