Willie Nelson at Mohegan (Music for the fans and Biodiesel for the Busses)

MOHEGAN — Willie Nelson’s visit Wednesday to Mohegan Sun did more than provide an evening of entertainment in the arena.

Earlier in the afternoon, Mohegan Sun casino officials used the country star’s environmental activism to call attention to alternative fuel.

A truck delivered 1,500 gallons of biodiesel to a caravan of six tour buses at the casino, including ones belonging to Nelson, Merle Haggard and Ray Price, who are touring in the “Last of the Breed” show, which played the arena Wednesday.

Nelson owns a biofuel company called Willie Nelson Biofuels, better known as BioWillie. For years in the western United States, he has touted the benefits of biofuels for the environment.
