Willie Nelson Pleads to Misdemeanor in St. Martin Parish

Country music legend Willie Nelson won’t serve time in jail for a September 2006 traffic stop on I-10.  State Troopers found marijuana and hallucinogenic mushrooms on his tour bus during the late night stop. Nelson appeared before Judge Paul deMahy in St. Martinville on Tuesday.

He was sentenced to 60 days in jail which was suspended, and six months of unsupervised probation.

Nelson plead guilty to one misdemeanor count of marijuana possession. He paid over $1000 in fines.  After a quick court appearance, which was originally scheduled on next month’s docket, Nelson was on the road again.
