This is a slide show of Martha Jewell Fowler & Herald and Mod, created by her dad, George Fowler, featuring a song written and performed by Martha Jewell: ‘My Heart in a Jar.’ The other members performing the song are Matt Hubbard, on bass, Jazz Jeff on Guitar, Bob Hubbard on Drums, and Harry Quiche on Skill Saw.
Many pictures are from the band’s performance on Mother’s Day at La Zona Rosa in Austin, one of a series of concerts held across the country to raiser awareness for ovarian cancer research. It was a family affair — also performing at the concert were aunt Paula Nelson and The Paula Nelson Band, Aunt Amy Nelson and Cathy Guthrie (Folk Uke), and John Trudell and his band, Bad Dog. There are other photos of the band rehearsing, at other concerts, and I see one of Martha in a coffeeshop in Amsterdam.
