American Classic
It’s not even Labor Day and Willie Nelson is already on his third studio release of 2009. the title, “American Classic,” nods as much to his own legend as the album’s repertoire, which includes such standards as “Fly Me to the Moon” and “Ain’t Misbehavin'”.
Colored by laid-back piano and swooning strings, it’s Mr. Nelson’s first release on Blue Note. The singer’s duet with the jazz record label’s biggest star, Norah Jones, “Baby, it’s Cold Outside” adds further to his album’s compatibility with candlelight dinners.”
