
Howard Zinn, historian, civil rights activist and author died last year on January 27, 2010. He was 87 years old. Zinn was the author of “A People’s History of the United States,” written in 1980, which became a best seller that inspired a generation of high school and college students to rethink American history. To remember Zinn and celebrate his life and good works, community screenings of The People Speak documentary and public readings of Voices of a People’s History of the United Stages.

Narrated by Zinn (August 24, 1922 – January 27, 2010) and based on his best-selling books A People’s History of the United States and, with Anthony Arnove, Voices of a People’s History of the United States, the film uses dramatic and musical performances of the letters, diaries, and speeches of those who spoke up for social change throughout U.S. history.
