Live at Ebbett’s Field
Denver, Colorado
September 25, 1975

Ebbets Field was not a field at all, but a tiny club in Denver located on 15th street which was open in the ’70’s.  It held under 300 people which made for an intimate show.  The stage faced bleachers which were like those at a sporting arena, and the walls, the floor and the seats were covered with dark shag carpet — black, orange and brown. 

Denver Promotor Chuck Morris opened up Ebbets Field, and he pulled everyone in there: Willie Nelson, Bob Seger, Tom Waits, Lynyrd Skynyrd,  Freddie King, Taj Mahal, John Prine, Muddy Water, Asleep At The Wheel, J.J. Cale, Ry Cooder, Commander Cody, Dr. John, the Flying Burrito Brothers, Peter Frampton, Dan Hicks, Lightning Hopkins, Howlin’ Wolf,  Kraftwerk, Little Feat, Don McLean, the Outlaws, Robin Trower, Jerry Jeff Walker, Muddy Waters. 

Most of the shows there were broadcast on a local radio station; the venue paid the bands record label to record the shows.  Some shows were broadcast as they happened, or sometimes later.   It was nice, because you could record the songs from your radio and come up with a pretty good tape.  You can google it, and it shows up at several bootleg sites where you can download it.  I don’t know how to do that, or I’d put it up here for everyone.  There are a few Live from Ebbets Field that show up from time to time, and Willie is featured on at least one of those.
