Thursday, hard-rocking guitarist Lukas Nelson and his jam band, Promise of the Real, will return to Grass Valley for a dance party.

Lukas Nelson, son of Willie Nelson, heads the band on guitars and vocals. Nelson and the band previously performed at the Center for the Arts before his father’s concert here in 2012.
The band’s name represents a pledge made by the group to always “be real” to who they are both musically and individually and for better or worse. They play rock ‘n’ roll with a blues base, intertwined with influences such as country, soul, folk and reggae. They are based out of Paia, Hawaii, and Southern California.
In 2009, the group released its first studio recording, the “Brando’s Paradise” EP, featuring “My Own Wave.”
In 2010, P.O.T.R. released its first LP, “Promise of the Real,” recorded at John Avila’s (Oingo Boingo) home studio.
In 2012, they released their second album, “Wasted.” Nelson started writing the personal country-rock record while on the Country Throwdown tour.
Lukas Nelson and P.O.T.R. are currently writing and recording new music for their next not-yet-titled album and third full-length release for the gritty rock group. Nelson is joined by Tato Melgar on percussion and sound effects, Anthony LoGerfo on drums and Corey McCormick on bass and vocals.
