I think this is my new favorite way to buy music: Make a pledge to support those bands and artists you care about, help them fund their new project, and in return get an album and other goodies form the band. It’s exciting; for as little as $10.00 or as much as you want to give, you can be part of a community that helps bands produce the music they love, that their fans love too.
A couple weeks ago I got a notice about Boston indie/folk/rock artist Will Dailey and his new album project. Will is a big Farm Aid supporter, and I don’t know if he has ever said no to Farm Aid when they’ve asked; his name always comes up on news feeds about Farm Aid and fundraisers in the Boston area. I first heard his music when he performed at a Farm Aid in Massachusetts a few years ago. He performed at the Farm Aid Eve concert, the night before Farm Aid, and I remember his set was great, and also that he hung around and handed out copies of his cds to people who attended the Farm Aid Eve fundraiser. Classy. He explained that because of frustration from working with record company, and dissatisfaction he experienced associated with that, that he was choosing tothe Pl fund his project through Pledge the Music site. So I was happy to buy one of his albums, and yesterday I got a notice from the band that they have raised enough money, are finishing their projects, and that a percentage of additional funds raised for their album pre-sale will go to support Farm Aid. Like I said, classy.
And now, I learned that Micah Nelson and his band Insects and Robots are working on their new album project, and are using Pledge the Mission to get the word out and let fans be a part of it. You can pre-order a copy of album for as little as $10.00, or spend a $1,000.00
t is using the Pledge website, to help raise funds for their project, and fans can be a part of it. Micah Nelson, and his band Insects and Robots are working on their new album project, and asking fans to be a part of it and pre-order an album, or make contributions and receive lots of cool things, including stickers, ringtones, photographs, videos original art, or even a private performance in your home, or they will even sing your favorite tune. The band is also donating a proceed of funds from pre-sale of album.
Follow this link to support the band with a small (or large) pledge to help Insects v Robots with their new album project! This is the wave of the future. You feel good, youg get swag, and you get their new album.
