Merry Christmas from Willie and the Boys, and Steve Brooks

This card was designed by Steve Brooks, and I apologize to him and everyone that it’s cut off.  Steve kindly gave me this card, and I couldn’t figure out how to scan the entire card, without bending it, which I didn’t want to do.  It is so cool.

If you’ve been a fan of Willie Nelson and Family for any length of time, you are familiar with the artwork of Dallas artist Steve Brooks.  Steve has been creating WIllie Nelson artwork for years — posters, flyers, cards, matchbook designs, movie sets, etc., etc.   I got to visit with him when he was in Boulder over Thanksgiving (more about that to come soon), and it was such fun.  To hear Steve talk he was a self-taught graphic artist who was at the right place at the right time.  But he is so creative, and he may be lucky, but he’s very talented, too.  In addition to Willie Nelson & Family, he also made posters for just about every big touring rock band that came through Texas in the ’70s.  To see his art, visit his website at

Steve is having an artshow next month at the Dallas Central Library, from January 3 – 31.  It will be a real trip down memory lane and I wish I lived close enough to come and see his original artwork.   He said he wouldn’t necessarily be there every day, but that if anyone wants to meet him, that they should call him, and if his schedule permits, he will come down and say hello.  That’s what I’d do — he’s a nice guy, and he’s got stories to tell.

Steve’s website is www.sbrooksgraphics.com.  And here’s the poster for Steve’s show:
