Rest in peace, Gates

Such sad, sad news. Gates, Willie Nelson’s bus Driver for decades, passed away this month. Gates was a nice guy, loyal to Willie Nelson and his friends, and was always nice to us fans.

We are heartbroken to report that Gates Sickel Moore, age 73, of Georgetown, Texas passed away on July 8, 2025.

Born in Maryland on March 11, 1952, Gates was a man of quick wit, great strength, and unwavering generosity. There was never hesitation from him when it came to stepping up when others needed help. The man loved hard, had the biggest heart, and was equally loved back by all that were lucky enough to know him.

Gates spent his life surrounded by those in the entertainment industry. He met the love of his life in 1977, asking Pam to marry him on their first date. It was the love of a lifetime; a blessing and everlasting love for eternity. It is a gift to feel a love that transcends time and space; love remembers and Gates’ love will forever remain.

Gates is survived by his devoted wife, Pamela Moore; his brothers-in-law, Douglas Myers and niece, Joy Myers of Utah; and David Myers of Arkansas; his cousins Linda Mills, Brady Allen, Brittney Powell, Ryan Sickel, Jennifer Raiden, Severin Wuelfing, Emerson Allen, Noah Allen, Aubrey Allen, and Damien Allen, as well as other cousins who loved him, and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Moore; his father, Horatio Gates Sickel V; his step-father, Thomas Moore; his sister, Tina Wuelfing; and his cousins Kathy Farberow and John Sickel.

Visitation is scheduled from 6:00-8:00 p.m on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at Ramsey Funeral Home.
A service to celebrate the great Gates “Gator” Moore will be held at Ramsey Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. followed by graveside at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery at 12:00 p.m. In Lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for contributions to help cover funeral service expenses.
