In the early morning hours of May 10, 1994, after a night of poker playing with his friend Carl Cornelius, Willie Nelson had pulled his Mercedes over to the side of the road for a quick nap on his way back to Austin. He was woke up by two highway patrolmen who shined their flashlight into his car and discovered what they believed to be the remnants of a marijuana cigarrette. Willie confirmed it was, and told them about a small baggie of marijuana under the seat. Willie was arrested, and charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession of marijuana. Almost a year later, however, a local judge ruled the evidence inadmissible and prosecutors said they wouldn’t appeal.
