It will be high tech time in the skies above the Austin Aqua Festival tonight, and down home music on Center Stage where spectacular laser lights and hometown hero Willie Nelson will lead the grand finale of the 10-day musical blast known as Fest Nights.

The first laser show in Austin, sponsored by Majic 95, the Austin American Statesman and County Line Barbecue, is scheduled to begin at 9:30 tonight.

“Viewers will watch downtown Austin almost come to life as dazzling beams bounce off buildings and dance across the city skies,” said Mike Kolar, commodore of the festival.

After the light show, there will be performances by Jerry Jeff Walker on the East Stage, Delbert McClinton on the West Stage and Willie Nelson on Center Stage.  The performances will start at about 10:30 p.m.

Nelson, for those new to the planet, is to modern country music what Bruuuuuce is to rock.  Nelson didn’t invent country music, contrary to what most of his fervent fans might think, but eh definitely provided the necessary musical resuscitation when it was slowly dying.
