Willie Nelson going back to Sioux City (to play, not to see Sue) (7/19/2007)

Legendary country singer Willie Nelson will perform at the Orpheum Theatre July 19 at 7:30 p.m.“Willie continues to be an incredible performer,” said Dave Bernstein, vice president of the theater. “We’re psyched to have any incredible performer back at the Orpheum, especially Willie Nelson. This should be an awesome show for folks of all ages.” The Grammy-award-winning artist sold out a show at the Orpheum in 2002. Nelson was scheduled to play Lewis and Clark Park alongside Bob Dylan on Aug. 24, 2004, but the event was cancelled.

“We’re really looking forward to it,” Bernstein said. “We’ve been working for a couple of years to get him back.”

Nelson’s career, which spans six decades, boasts more than 200 albums and the achievement of every conceivable award and honor that can bestowed upon a recording artist. He has been awarded eight Grammys, a President’s Merit Award, a Grammy Legend Award and the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award.

Bernstein said an opening act has not been announced at this time.

Concert tickets start at $39.50. Tickets go on sale at 10:30 a.m. May 5 at the Tyson Event Center/Gateway Arena Box Office, all Ticketmaster locations, online at www.ticketmaster.com or charge by phone at (712) 252-3434 (Sioux City), (605) 334-8181 (Sioux Falls), or (402) 422-1212 (Omaha).
