Privacy has become more and more difficult for Willie Nelson to maintain in his Austin home, so he bought a large home just outside Denver. He also maintains an apartment in Malibu, California. As for where he really lives, it’s hard to say: he’s never home.
Despite all his projects, Willie maintains that he has no intention of becoming either a professional celebrity or a full time entrepreneur. His first commitment, as always, is to his music. In preparation for his latest album, with Leon Russell, more than a hundred tracks have been recorded. Willie also reportedly has enough solo tracks in the can now for two more complete albums. “Success just seems to wear well on Willie,” remarked on Columbia executive, with genuine awe. “He never seems to let up. He’ll tell us to hold everything that he’s going to take a month off, but then, a week and a half later, he’s ready to go again.”
As for the fast pace, Willie says he doesn’t really mind. “I feel more at home in a Holiday Inn than I really do at home, because the home that I have now, I haven’t been to as much as I’ve been in Holiday Inns. Holiday Inns are more familiar.”
“We all just love the road. We all enjoy playing music, so it’s not really that hard a work. I mean, everybody likes to take a week off now and then, but any longer than a week and you start to get restless and want to do it again.”Â
