WASHINGTON, D.C. (CNN) – Rapper Common and Country Crooner Willie Nelson joined forces over their passion for music and U.S. military members and their families.
The pair participated in an interactive workshop for high school students from military communities in the Washington, D.C. area at the White House Thursday.
The students learned about the origin of music and its impact in times of war.
Willie Nelson and Common are also among several artists scheduled to perform at “A Salute to the Troops” on the South Lawn of the White House Thursday.
The program will be broadcast Friday night.
