The Pedernales Fire Department Auxiliary in Spicewood recently received support from one of its most notable residents—Willie Nelson.

Nelson, who lives near Pedernales Fire Department Station No. 1, autographed an Austin-brand guitar donated by The Musicians Woodshed in nearby Lakeway, according to an Aug. 10 press release. Individuals can purchase one or multiple $20 tickets to enter a raffle for the guitar signed “2021, Love, Willie.” The funds will allow PFDA to purchase underwater rescue services and dual power radios.

“Our neighbor Willie Nelson has been a consistent contributor to the Pedernales Fire Department Auxiliary since we were just a volunteer fire department,” Alecia Ormsby, PFDA president said in the release. “We are so grateful for his love and support.”

Tickets can be purchased online on the PDFA’s PayPal page and the winning ticket will be drawn Sept. 25 at the department’s Firehouse Feast or when 200 tickets have been purchased, according to the release. Those interested should enter their phone number in the “notes” section of the PayPal donation to be contacted by phone.

Annually, PDFA hosts community events to raise funds for the department. In 2020, those events were halted amid the pandemic. Still, local donors provided support, allowing for the purchase of over $300,000 in power tools needed for a quick rescue process.
