Lucinda Williams, Orville Peck, Margo Price and and perennial Luck headliner Willie Nelson are all set to perform at the daylong festival held on Nelson’s Luck Ranch outside of Austin.

Slated for March 19th, the Luck Reunion brings together left-of-center artists who are both preserving and progressing American music. Luck is also defined by frequent collaboration and a sense of intimacy, especially for the lucky few who pack the ranch’s “Chapel Stage.” This year, the Haden Triplets, Sierra Ferrell, Early James, S.G. Goodman, the Still Tide, Shooks, Ian Ferguson, Jeremie Albino, and Jonathan Wilson are all slated to perform in the chapel.

Nelson will close the event on the World Headquarters Stage, which features a daylong lineup of Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, Shooter Jennings, Particle Kid, Angel Olsen, Parquet Courts, Paul Cauthen, and Devon Gilfillian.

Lucinda Williams, Orville Peck, Amanda Shires, Colter Wall, the Black Lips, Ian Noe, Terry Allen, the Mastersons, Katie Pruitt, and Margo Price & Friends featuring Jeremy Ivey are also scheduled to play the other stages scattered across the property.

As in years past, the Luck Reunion takes place during the SXSW Music Festival, which runs March 16th through 22nd in Austin.

Potluck at Luck 2020

Luck Productions Announce 5th Annual PotLuck Ahead 0f Luck Reunion Chef Bruce Kalman and Willie Nelson join hands in Luck, TX, to bene-fit Farm Aid and Austin Food and Wine Alliance
Luck Productions is proud to announce the return of their annual PotLuck event on March 18th in Luck, TX.

Held on the eve of Luck Reunion, PotLuck redefines what it means to have a cookout in the Hill Country, gathering artists, culinary connoisseurs, and music lovers at Willie Nelson’s storied Luck, TX, property for an intimate dinner followed by a very special backyard performance from Willie Nelson.

“Luck is all about community, and we feel nothing represents community more than breaking bread together,” says Luck co-founder Matt Bizer. “We see chefs as part of the core fabric of the community, just like our artists family, and we want the chefs to be a core part of the vision and the why behind everything we do.” Sharing in the mission of keeping things as close to the ground as possible and choosing local whenever possible, Farm Aid and Austin Food & Wine Alliance are this year’s beneficiaries for PotLuck.

The 2020 event will welcome a wide-ranging group of culinary talent, curated by lead Chef Bruce Kalman (BK Hospitality Group, Top Chef season 15 contestant) with help from Luck’s resident foodie Ben Runkle (Salt & Time) to bring their culinary influences to the table with a collaborative multi-course meal.

Kalman, who was born and raised in northern New Jersey, is a James Beard-nominated chef and co-owner of Knead & Co. Pasta Bar + Market in downtown Los Angeles, as well as the chef-founder behind BK Brinery, his artisanal pickle company. “I’m honored to be asked to take the lead and I have assembled an incredibly talented group of chefs,” he says. “This year’s theme is Mediterranean Live Fire which is my favorite way to cook as it lends itself to rustic cooking using locally sourced, indigenous ingredients.”

The “incredibly talented group of chefs” Kalman speaks of includes the following food rockstars:

Pre-dinner, passed bites:  Evan Leroy (Leroy & Lewis, Austin) Sarah Heard (Foreign & Domestic, Austin) Jorge Hernandez (Carpenters Hall, The Mighty Union, Austin)

Dinner chefs:  James Trees (Esther’s Kitchen, Las Vegas) Keris Kuwana (Slanted Door, Las Vegas) Bryce Gilmore (Barley Swine, Odd Duck, Sour Duck, Austin) Abby Love (Abby Jane Bakeshop, Austin) John Tesar (Knife, Dallas)

Steve Snyder, Farm Aid’s Development and Brand Director echoes Kalman’s excitement by saying, “We’re thrilled and thankful to return to Luck as beneficiary of this wonderful event, and to celebrate food sourced directly from family farmers across Central Texas through the culinary skills of these amazing and innovative chefs.

This unforgettable feast under the stars on our founder Willie Nelson’s ranch will raise critical funds to further Farm Aid’s mission to cultivate a vibrant, family farm-centered system of agriculture in Texas and across America.”

Tickets will go on sale at 12 PM CST on Thursday, Feb. 13 via www.luckreunion.com. Want to win your way into a Willie Nelson-centric trip to Texas?! Farm Aid has teamed up with Omaze to fly two people to the ranch for a meet and greet with the man himself, tickets to PotLuck and Luck Reunion, a signed guitar, and more. Details and entry here

January 31, 2020 – Austin, TX – Luck Reunion, presented by Southwest Air, the flagship festival of Luck Productions, is pleased to announce the 2020 installment of their fan-forward ticket buying initiative, Lucky Draw Live. On February 13th at 6 PM, fans looking to get lucky with tickets to the festival will be treated to a free and intimate performance from Glorietta and 2019 Southwest: Artist on the Rise to Luck winner, Katie Pruitt at Austin’s legendary Antone’s Nightclub.

Over the past 40 years, Antone’s has brought Austin a variety of blues and music from across the country including B.B. King, Muddy Waters, Ray Charles, and James Brown, and helped develop local talent like Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Bob Schneider, and Gary Clark Jr.—aligning directly with Luck’s motto of “celebrating the legacies still among us, while lifting up the new crop of individuals who share a respect for those who blazed the trails before them.”

Lucky Draw Live, presented by KUTX 98.9 and Topo Chico, is centered around Luck Reunion’s lineup announcement for 2020, but will also feature special Luck-centric door prizes, a reveal of the 2020 Southwest: Artist on the Rise to Luck finalists, and an opportunity to purchase two tickets to Luck Reunion which takes place at Willie’s Ranch in Luck, TX, March 19, 2020.

How to win: Starting at 6:00 PM, attendees can obtain a scratch-off lottery ticket (while supplies last), which will dictate, by color, a designated area to line up for entry. At 7:00 PM a Roulette wheel will be spun with both colors/lines represented: those holding lottery tickets with the color the wheel lands on will be able to automatically purchase a maximum of two (2) tickets to Luck Reunion (while stock lasts). Those who don’t get lucky with tickets onsite will gain priority entry to the venue for the concert and will be entered into a raffle offering additional ticketing opportunities, merch, and more.

Can’t make it to Antone’s?: The lineup announcement will also be broadcast live on KUTX 98.9.

Southwest: Artist on the Rise to Luck: Lucky Draw Live will also serve as the official reveal of the 2020 Southwest: Artist On The Rise to Luck finalists, to be presented by Pruitt at the event. The announcement will kick off the fan voting process, starting on Friday, February 14, in which the public will be able to vote for their pick in the pool of the three selected artists until voting ends on Friday, February 28. Southwest: Artist On The Rise contestants vie for the opportunity to take a coveted slot on Luck Reunion’s main stage.

One more chance to win tickets: After the February 13th event at Antone’s, there will be one remaining “Lucky Draw” with details available only on Luck Reunion’s Instagram and Facebook. These four Lucky Draws are Luck’s answer to fans looking for a smoother ticket buying process, allowing patrons to submit for their chance to buy tickets without racing the clock or cursing their internet connection.

PotLuck: February 13th also marks the ticket on-sale date for the 2020 PotLuck, an intimate, chef-prepared dinner held at Willie’s ranch in Luck, TX on the eve of the Reunion (March 18) and featuring a post-meal performance by Willie Nelson. At 6:00 PM central, fans both in and outside of Austin will be able to purchase tickets to the dinner via https://amplitix.com/luck

Willie Nelson’s Luck Reunion (March 19, 2020)

Ticket Information

Our annual “anti-festival” held on Willie Nelson’s “Luck, TX” property will return in 2020 for a full-day celebration of music, food, and art. The Reunion offers the one-of-a-kind opportunity to catch a 50+ artist lineup in Willie’s private backyard. Between sets, fans and artists alike enjoy craft beverages in the Saloon and surrounding bars; shop for artisan goods from a curated assortment of boutique vendors; and sample food from Austin’s famous food trucks.

LUCK, TX / Built in 1985 as the backdrop for the film “Red Headed Stranger”, Luck, TX is an old west town located in Willie Nelson’s backyard on the outskirts of Austin. The journey to Luck started in 1979 when Willie and dear friend Bill Wittliff set out to make a film version of Willie’s concept album of the same name. While the original screenplay ended with the town burning down, Nelson had grown attached to the set and called for a change in order to preserve the property. The star built his own home on the sprawling land, just a short drive up the road from the set, and Luck, Texas was born.

Beyond its fading facades, Luck became a longtime gathering place for Willie and his contemporaries to come together to shoot the shit and inspire one another through song; a sort of scaled-down extension of anti-scene Austin landmarks like Armadillo World Headquarters and Austin Opry House.

Over the years as the bootprints from the past began to fade, Luck primarily served as Willie’s private hang: for games of poker in the “World Headquarters” building and Easter celebrations in the chapel. In 2012 a group of barstool dreamers with ties to the location set out to revive the town’s spirit with experiences inspired by its unique history.

With Nelson’s blessing, the seeds for Luck Reunion were planted. Luck Reunion – a misfit group of young believers, Nelson family members, and Willie’s personal team –  hopes to honor the creative origins of the magical space, and contribute to the all-inclusive and fascinating culture of the illustrious town.

Sites & Sounds Episode 2 Spotlights AustinWatch it here

Luck Productions and Southwest Airlines® are thrilled to reveal Sites & Sounds: Austin, the second installment in a three-part web series celebrating hometown influence on musicians and the destinations that have bred a culture of creativity.

Sites & Sounds: Austin

The program serves as an artist-penned love letter to the places that inspired who they are; with each episode showcasing a “host” musician who welcomes a fellow artist to the location that has influenced them the most.

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is micah12-1024x536.jpg

Episode two features Micah Nelson – son of Willie and lead musician in Particle Kid – who welcomes friend and frequent collaborator Sunny War to experience his original stomping grounds: Austin, Texas. The episode is live today at southwest.fm/sites-and-sounds.

Sites & Sounds: Austin invites viewers to join Micah as he shows Sunny his favorite haunts, including raw juice mecca JuiceLand; the popular Torchy’s Tacos; and Hopscotch, a pop-up interactive art installation that finds Micah and friends diving in to an immersive experience that is brilliantly reminiscent of the unique art-fueled mind space Nelson brings to life onstage as Particle Kid.

Fittingly, the episode follows the series’ debut installment which featured Micah’s brother Lukas Nelson, alongside Nikki Lane, in Maui, Hawaii. While the Nelson brothers moved to Maui from Austin at an early age, Micah maintains a strong connection to his hometown and has cultivated a handful of regular haunts, many of which are highlighted in the episode.

“What a wild few days. Especially that last day where we shot a whole music video at Hopscotch, ate at Torchy’s, blew a tire on the highway, but still made it back to Luck, TX. And the camera crew captured it all!”, said Micah Nelson.

“It was fun shooting with the Southwest crew. I will always cherish the first and, most likely last time I ate a huge burrito on camera,” Sunny War added.

Catch Sites & Sounds: Austin today on Southwest.fm and check out additional travel guide content on www.luckjournal.com. The episode will be available in Southwest Airlines’ in-flight portal in late fall.

Since joining forces in 2017, Southwest and Luck Reunion have dedicated their partnership to storytelling, and to lifting up artists who are making great moves on their own terms. Sites & Sounds is an extension of that vision: providing travelers and music lovers with an in-depth glimpse into the places that make artists tick. “Our partnership with Southwest is built on our collective mission to contribute to the artist narrative, and to share emerging artists’ stories in a compelling and honest way,” said Ellee Fletcher Durniak, co-founder of Luck Productions. “Sites & Sounds is our chance to bring this vision to life outside of the Luck Reunion, and we are genuinely proud to be on board with Southwest for this project.”

Sites & Sounds provides artists a chance to share the connection they feel to a destination and the role it has played in their life,” said Brandy King, Director of External Communications who oversees the airline’s Brand Partnerships and Entertainment Public Relations initiative. “Through our partnership with Luck Productions, we’re thrilled to be a part of sharing stories from these artists to highlight the places that have been a source of inspiration for their creative work. We hope these stories can inspire new adventures and travels for our Customers.”

The third and final episode will bring travel and music lovers to the Bay Area to explore Chuck Prophet’s beloved spots alongside his guest, Aaron Lee Tasjan.

Sites & Sounds will be available for music fans and our Customers to enjoy by visiting Southwest.fm/SitesandSounds. Like some of the places you see in the episodes? Visit LuckJournal.com for even more destination inspiration about the locations featured in the videos.
