Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

Bill Mack just announced that Willie Nelson will be calling in today to talk with fans for Willie Wednesday, at Willie’s Place, on Sirius/XM Satellite Radio.  Here’s your chance to talk with Willie, and listen to him talk about music, politics and anything else that comes up with Bill and Cindy.

If you want to call in, their new number is 877-394-5543, or 877-3WILLIE.

Willie Wednesday is the reason I originally signed up for xm radio, and that alone was worth the $12.00/month they charged.  Now, I am hooked on the Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan, CNN, NPR and other channels, and love my xm radio.

No Willie Wednesday on Sirius/XM Radio (Willie was golfing)

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

williebill

In case you wondered, there was no Willie Wednesday at Willie’s Place on Sirius/XM Radio today.  Willie usually calls in on Wednesdays to the Bill Mack show, but today Bill announced Willie wouldn’t be calling in, because he was out on the golf course.   Good for him.

So, here’s a golf  joke Willie told last year on Willie Wednesday:

It seems there was a woman who was golfing on a course where there were a lot of bees, and she got stung.  She went into the pro shop and told the golf professional that she’d been stung by a bee.

The pro asked, “Where did you get stung?”

The woman told him, “Between the first and second holes.”

The pro said, “Well, first of all, your stance is too wide.”

On his radio show on Willie’s Place today, Bill said that he got a note from Willie in Maui about not calling  in last Wednesday for Willie Wednesday:

Willie Nelson, in the Studio at Willie’s Place Sirius/XM Radio (2/25/09)

Friday, February 27th, 2009

Thanks to Jeremy Tepper, Program Director for the Willie’s Place Channel, on Sirius/XM Radio, for sending this picture he took of Willie Nelson in the studio at Willie’s Place last Wednesday, on Willie Wednesday, on the Bill Mack show.  Willie’s Place can be found on Channel 13 on XM Radio, and on Sirius Channel 64.   There’s lots of reasons to sign up for Sirius/XM Radio, Willie’s Place is the best one, in my opinion.

Willie Wednesdays are always good, when Willie calls in from wherever he is on tour and talks with Bill, Cindy and fans who call in to the show.  But last Wednesday’s show will go down in history as extra special, when Willie was live in the studio at Carl’s Corner, Texas, and talked with Bill and Cindy, and special guest Ray Price, who drove in for the show.

Jeremy said that the Willie and the Wheel concert at Willie’s Place Nightlife Theater last Tuesday will be re-broadcast tomorrow, Saturday, at 3 p.m. Eastern Time (that’s 1 for us Colorado folks)  immediately followed by the last hour of the Bill Mack Willie Wednesday show with Willie Nelson and Ray Price.  Additionally, the show with Willie Nelson and Ray Price will replay this Sunday, March 1, at 1 p.m. Eastern.   Don’t miss this chance to hear these legends talk, and share stories and laughs.

He also sent this picture he took on Wednesday of Dallas Wayne (far left), Carl Cornelius of Carl’s Corner fame, Bill Mack, Willie Nelson and Ray Price, in the studio.

Wille Nelson will be live in the studio today on the Bill Mack Show, on Willie’s Place Sirius/XM Radio.    Bill just announced that Willie was on his way to the studio.

Bill interviewed Ray Price, then Pauline Reese on his show, as he broadcasts live from Willie’s Place Studio at Carl’s Corner, Texas.

Bill announced that they won’t be taking calls today, which is understandable, because Ray Price is still in the studio, Annie Nelson is there, and there is so much to talk about.

Hey! It’s Willie Wednesday on the Bill Mack xm Radio Show!

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009

Willie is on the radio right now, talking to Bill and Cindy, and taking calls from fans.  Call 1-817-451-6055 if you want to try and get through and talk to Willie.

Willie talked a lot about biofuel, and the problems they are encountering in Texas, against politicians, oil companies and the powers that be who do not want anyone to be able to compete against the oil industry and who might free the US’s dependency on foreign oil.

Willie and Bill both credited the truckers with getting the word out about biofuel, by word of mouth.  Willie said that an airline pilot had said that airlines were beginning to use the fuel, as they had figured out a way to keep it from jelling up in the cold atmosphere.

He urges people to call their representatives, and anyone they know who may be involved with the energy policies in the US and in Texas, and express their support for biofuel.  Especially, he talked about the need for ‘crushers’ in Texas, which is a plant that could crush plants, specifically he talked about sunflowers, and convert them so they could be used for biofuel.

Willie said people are speaking out, they want to buy their food locally, and their fuel locally, and not have it imported from the other side of the world, or have our country start a war over oil.  He called for investment by the state of Texas, or from the federal government — use some of President Obama’s stimulus money to build crushing plants, which cost millions to build and get going.  He encouraged us to call our representatives, the President, and remind them that ‘Family farmers are the first rung in the economy of our nation.”

They only took a couple calls to talk with Willie — Bill and Billy had so much to ask Willie and talk about, including his current tour with Asleep at the Wheel, the new album, his show in NYC with Wynton Marsalis, biodiesel fuel, Carl’s Corner, Wille’s Place XM13, old friends, and more.

Bill worked in his plug for the Sleep Comfort Bed.  Willie asked Bill and Cindy what their number was, and as it turns out, they are both at #45.  Willie expressed concern that they were both vibrating at the same speed.  Bill asked Willie what his number was, and if he had trouble sleeping, and Willie replied that he gets his sleep in snatches, but he didn’t think he should tell that story on the air.

He did leave Bill and Cindy with a joke:

A ventriliquest was performing, and his act included several dumb blonde jokes.

After about an hour, a blonde woman stood up in the audience and said, “Listen, you SOB, all you have done for the whole hour is put down us blondes.  You try to put us all in the same box, say we’re not as smart as you, that we’re all dumb.  You owe all the blondes of the world an apology!”

The ventriliquest said, “I’m sorry ma’am, I really didn’t mean to offend you.”

The blonde said, “Not you.  I’m talking to that sob sitting on your lap!”
